MARYHILL Housing has been shortlisted for a top UK housing award.

It was revealed this week that the housing association is in the final of the UK Housing Awards.

Maryhill fought its way through to the shortlist for the “Outstanding Approach to tenant Involvement’ category.

Seven others are battling out to clinch the Award including high profile contenders such as Hull City Council.

Widely recognised as the biggest and best awards in the sector, the UK Housing Awards are organised by the Chartered Institute of Housing and Inside Housing magazine.

They recognise the ingenuity, creativity, passion and hard work of housing organisations across the UK.

Maryhill succeeded in making it to he final by setting out its approach to tenant involvement – a key objective for leading housing associations such as Maryhill as it seeks to develop deeper links with the people it serves.

Tenant scrutiny is also a priority for Maryhill Housing because it firmly believes tenants should inspect the work of the organisation and make recommendations where improvements can be made.

Maryhill’s approach to tenant involvement saw the organisation win a top Award in 2014 and become Tenant Participation Champions of the Year in Scotland.

Meanwhile, satisfaction among Maryhill housing tenants to participate increased by almost 20% in 3 years.

The Association’s most recent satisfaction survey showed that 86% of tenants are now satisfied with the opportunities to participate at Maryhill Housing Association.

Donna Birrell, Director of Investment and Regeneration, said: “This is recognition of the hard work and dedication from staff at Maryhill Housing and the commitment from our local residents and groups.”
